Tips & Supporting Streamers
Q: How do I send a tip to a streamer?
A: Visit the streamer profile or stream page and click the "Tip" button. Enter an amount ($1-$500), add an optional message, and complete payment via Stripe.
Q: Can I tip a team instead of an individual?
A: Yes! On team pages, you can tip the entire team. The tip is split equally among all team members who are currently live streaming. If no members are live, the team owner receives the full tip.
Q: What fees are taken from tips?
A: Payment processing fees (5.4% + $0.30) are deducted first. Then a platform fee is applied based on the streamer membership tier: Starter (25%), PRO (18%), or Ultimate (10%). The streamer keeps the remaining amount.
Q: Can I remain anonymous when tipping?
A: Yes! When sending a tip, you can choose to hide your name. The streamer will see "Anonymous" instead of your username.
Q: Are tips refundable?
A: Tips are voluntary and non-refundable once processed. Please double-check the amount and recipient before confirming.
Q: How do I receive tips as a streamer?
A: Tips are automatically credited to your wallet balance. You can withdraw funds once you reach the minimum withdrawal threshold ($100) after completing identity verification.
Ad Revenue & Monetization
Q: Do all streamers earn ad revenue?
A: No. Only Ultimate members (Partner status) earn ad revenue. This mirrors the Twitch Partner model:
- Starter & PRO members: Ads play on your streams, but you receive $0 ad revenue (platform keeps 100%)
- Ultimate members: Partner status - you keep 55% of all ad revenue generated on your streams
Q: Why dont Starter and PRO members earn ad revenue?
A: Like Twitch, ad revenue sharing is a Partner benefit. Upgrade to Ultimate ($29.99/mo) to unlock Partner status and start earning from ads. Starter and PRO members can still earn from tips, supporter subscriptions, and tournament prizes.
Q: How is ad revenue different from subscription revenue?
A: These are separate revenue streams:
- Subscription/Tip Revenue: ALL tiers earn from supporter subscriptions and tips - Starter keeps 75%, PRO keeps 82%, Ultimate keeps 90%
- Ad Revenue: ONLY Ultimate members earn from ads - they keep 55% (Partner status)
Q: How do Ultimate members get ad-free viewing AND earn ad revenue?
A: Ultimate members enjoy ad-free viewing when watching OTHER streamers. When YOU stream, your viewers (who are not Ultimate members or subscribers) will see ads, and you earn 55% of that revenue.
State Restrictions
Q: Why cant I join paid tournaments?
A: Some US states have laws restricting paid gaming competitions. If you live in Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, South Carolina, South Dakota, or Tennessee, you cannot participate in paid tournaments. You can still join free tournaments and use all other platform features.
Q: Can I still watch streams and subscribe to streamers in restricted states?
A: Yes! The restriction only applies to paid tournament entry. All other features including streaming, subscriptions, tips, and free tournaments are available everywhere.
\n\nTournament Streaming
\n\nQ: How does tournament stream auto-detection work?
A: When you register for a tournament and go live anytime between the tournament start time and end time, D1 Arena automatically:
- Detects your live stream
- Links it to your active tournament match
- Creates a VOD when you end your stream
- Associates the VOD with your match for replay viewing
Q: Can viewers watch my tournament match live?
A: Yes! When you stream during a tournament, viewers can click on your match in the bracket to watch your live stream. After the match, they can watch the VOD replay.
Q: What if I am on a team - does everyone need to stream?
A: No. For team tournaments, only one team member needs to stream. The system will detect any team member who goes live and link their stream to the team match.
Q: Do I need any special streaming software for tournaments?
A: No special software needed. Use the same streaming setup you always use - OBS, Streamlabs, or browser streaming (Ultimate only). Just stream to your D1 Arena stream key as usual.
